Muhammed Berkay Yarder
Third-year Technical Computer Science student at the University of Twente. I write code that has to work on real hardware: FPGAs, neural accelerators, microcontrollers and, before all of that, competition robots.
My name as it leaves a UART pin. Each letter is one frame: a start bit, eight data bits with the least significant bit first, and a stop bit. Type something to send your own.
Projects
Seven things I’ve built, from my degree and from before it. Each one has its own page with a sketch of how it works and what my part was.
Edge AI ecological monitoring system
A farm camera that spots animals and decides whether they threaten livestock. It runs fully on a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Hailo-10H accelerator.
AM demodulator for a maze robot
The circuit I designed so our Hackathon maze robot knows which exit to take: a 40 kHz ultrasonic signal is amplified, demodulated, filtered and decoded on a Pico 2W.
FPGA Sobel accelerator and stack processor
An edge detection accelerator in Clash with an AXI4-Stream interface, built after a stack processor and a Verilog state machine.
Real-time scheduling for aircraft cabin monitoring
Rate Monotonic scheduling for a cabin pressure and oxygen monitor, where missing a deadline is not an option.
Tutoring platform for Inter-Actief
A tutoring platform for the Computer Science study association. Best Project Award of the module.
Basketball shot coaching app
A web app that checks a beginner's shooting form with pose estimation and gives feedback by voice.
FRC robot drive system
The swerve drive and PID loops for my high school's FIRST Robotics Competition robot. This is where I got into engineering.
Smaller builds
- Line-following robot
- Two-wheel robot on an RP2040 with an H-bridge driver and two analogue IR sensors, steered by a proportional control loop.
- XORshift32 over serial
- Arduino cryptography lab: I implemented the PRNG and decrypted a flag streamed over the serial port.
- Multiplayer game in Java
- Module 2 Software Systems project at Twente, graded 9.9.
- Twitter clone
- My first large software project at Twente, in module 1, graded 9.1, the top score.
- Game development
- Personal projects in Unity and Unreal Engine, and a traineeship at Peak Games in Istanbul.
